Covenant and Commandedness: Explorations in Liberal Jewish Thought - Conservative Perspective

Taught by Rabbi Julie Roth
Tonight, 6-7pm

What does it mean to be in covenant with a God you might not believe in?  What compels us to observe mitzvot (commandments) if we don't believe the Torah was written by God?  We will explore how modern Jewish thinkers, affiliated with the liberal Jewish movements, have translated the concepts of covenant and commandedness in light of their movement's beliefs.
